2. Personal Mastery

To set your heart on being a life coach is to undertake a noble task. This is a choice to be a "miracle worker" in our community and ultimately the world. It means making a fundamental difference in people's lives.

But as the proverb goes, "with great power comes great responsibility", and in a life coaching role it is imperative that we are above reproach, and that we continuously "walk the talk".

While this is a simple and obvious idea, it is perhaps the most important and most difficult practice to fully realize. Yet we must continually challenge ourselves to rise to greatness and to manage our lives with integrity...

If we don't do this, besides loosing the ability to create the life we want, - as life coaches we risk our entire ability to influence. For as Ralph Emerson put it, "what you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say."

Personal mastery means becoming more valuable, - becoming a man or woman of character. Passing the coaching education or the accreditation is a small and relatively easy step. It also proves little in terms of one's true coaching capacity.

Coaching mastery is established in the way you get yourself to make the choices you know you should make… to do what you have resolved to do.

There is no substitute for this practice. Its essence is one of spiritual growth and connection with a deeper reality, - our soul power. This is a never ending quest, to clarify our personal vision, to deepen our sense of reality and strengthen our creative will to manifest what matters most.

This organization is here to continually develop this power to fulfill our calling... 'to be the change we want to see in the world', as Gandhi put it.
